PG&E Changes Third-Party Info Process

Solar ProgramsFor the protection and privacy of customers, Pacific Gas and Electric has implemented a new process for handling inquiries from customers calling with a third party on the line. Customers of record can no longer provide verbal permission and hand the phone over to their contractor to have them obtain account information.

Now when a customer wants a third party to receive account information or transact business on their behalf, they can access their data through and share with the contractor. Alternatively, the customer can request data over the phone with the contractor remaining on the line via a conference line or speakerphone. Contractors can instruct the customer prior to calling on the account detail questions they need to ask, usually the last 12 months of electric usage in kilowatts, SA ID number, rate schedule and actual dollar charges for the 12 months.
